ICE Hockey League: Innsbruck extends with coach Mitch O’Keefe – winter sports – ice hockey
Innsbruck – Tuesday, November 30th, 2021, 4:18 pm
HC Innsbruck is relying on continuity in the head coach position and is extending Mitch O’Keefe’s contract for another two years ahead of schedule.
“I am very happy to be part of this club for two more years. I have the feeling that we are building something special here and I want to be part of this development,” the 37-year-old Canadian was quoted as saying in a press release.
The former goalkeeper took over the “Haie” in the preseason, but missed the playoffs. In the current season things are going even better, after 18 games the Tyroleans are in third place. Innsbruck had to take a break last weekend, more than 15 positive corona cases are still playing for the time being.
HCI chairman Günther Hanschitz says: “Mitch has done a very good job since he took over the scepter. He is fully committed to our chosen Tyrolean path and harmonizes with the entire team on and off the ice. So far, scouting (in .) Cooperation with everyone else involved) always works very well. We are delighted to be able to continue to place our trust in Mitch O’Keefe. “
Assistant GM Max Steinacher is also pleased “that the extension with Mitch has now been decided. Something is happening in Innsbruck and I am happy to be able to work with Mitch for at least two more seasons.”
