Gkn Firenze, layoffs: procedure restarts
“Registered arrival. Gkn is preparing to reopen the dismissal procedure. Decreed now. Once again teased.” The Factory Collective of the Gkn plant in Campi Bisenzio (Florence) writes on Facebook.
In the registered letter, dated November 26 and received today by the employees of the Campi Bisenzio plant and to which the Factory Collective refers, the company writes that after delaying “the start of the collective dismissal procedure until the end of November”, now “We are forced to begin the legal procedure at the end of this month”.
Gkn Driveline Firenze in the letter adds: “We will diligently continue the discussion with the trade union and the institutions to find an agreement that can carry out the reindustrialization project”.
“We are alongside the Gkn workers who today received a new letter. Yet the advisor who has to deal with reindustrialisation has recently been appointed, on which at the moment we have no news”, said the mayor of Florence and the metropolitan city Dario. Nardella and the mayor of Campi Bisenzio Emiliano Fossi, who received a delegation of Gkn employees today at Palazzo Vecchio. The councilor for work Benedetta Albanese was also present at the meeting.
“The priority is to immediately open the table of Gkn’s reindustrialisation in a serious way and out of any conditioning and ask for Invitalia’s full involvement in this process – say Nardella and Fossi – and above all outside the dismissal procedure. The work started by Minister Orlando. on the provision on relocations in the light of what is happening again at Gkn and its successor a few weeks ago also in Bologna, to avoid an esclation throughout the country. More serious due to the judiciary’s rulings on the company’s anti-union behavior “.
