Toulouse. A new performance hall will soon see the light of day in a lock keeper

A second life for the Saint-Pierre Lock House. Built in 1776 on the allées de Brienne in Toulouse, the building is undergoing renovation. Work that has been carried out as part of a scope for more than 10 years by Remi Sanchez and Joel Saurin, former members of the music group Zebda, as well as by Laurent Nassiet, former manager of cafes and restaurants in the Pink City.
What is planned for this 18th century buildinge century?
This lock keeper, located in the Amidonniers district, will become a brand new cultural place. This will extend over an area of 500 m². On site, we will find a Cafe Restaurant, from creative spaces but also, and above all, a performance hall that can accommodate an audience of 300 people.
“L’Écluse Saint-Pierre will host a multidisciplinary program, promoting the diversity of cultural expressions, social mix, citizen participation, with the objective of creating a new specific cultural dynamic”, the Departmental Council of Haute-Garonne, which a grant of 320,000 euros to finance the technical equipment and materials of the performance hall.
Opening expected in March 2022
This renovation will also bring even more life to the neighborhood. Indeed, more than 200 cultural and artistic events will be organized each year, such as concerts, meetings or even exhibitions. A non-exhaustive list.
The work is going on. The inauguration of the place is expected for the month of March 2022.
