Tonight, the Planet Budapest 2021 Sustainability Expo and World Meeting at Hungexpo will begin with a grand opening and run until December 5.
The aim of Planet Budapest 2021 is to draw the participants to an unfavorable environmental, social and economic process and to show that these negative changes, which overshadow the future of humanity, can still be reversed. The event will also be attended by V4 member states.
Planet Budapest 2021 will be built around four thematic event groups: at the world meeting starting on Tuesday morning, heads of state, government decision-makers, recognized experts from international organizations, and representatives of the scientific and business world
the topics of sustainable water management, food production, energy and waste management, and transport will be discussed.
The ex is designed to showcase innovations based on the knowledge and expertise of the Visegrad countries that are environmentally sustainable.
At the audience program, the outreach experience center will showcase solutions that allow participants to experience a possible future, experience what their home, school, city will be like tomorrow, or just what sustainable food we will be consuming. The goal of the Youth Program is to make the life of young people the importance of a sustainable lifestyle.
President of the Republic János Áder, the main patron of the event, said earlier that two thirds of the exhibitors are Hungarian, but also Polish, Czech and Slovak companies. Some of the exhibitors are already presenting a market product, and some of them are coming up with ideas looking for a sponsor.
The head of state emphasized:
it was important to organize the exhibition with the least possible environmental footprint,
therefore, the stands will be built from recycled or recyclable materials, there will be no plastic bottles in the expo area, electric garbage trucks will collect and take out the trash, children will be able to travel to the exhibition for free, and public transport will be transported by green buses.
He also mentioned that the exhibition can only be attended with a security certificate, it is mandatory to wear a mask, and to prevent infections, the equipment, premises and medical services will be continuously disinfected on site.
