PICTURE: Students came to Prague to fight to preserve the Kralupy school
Apprentices and students, their teachers and parents do not agree. “Which school is the best? Kralupy! Where do we want to stay? In Kralupy! ”The pupils of the school, both current and former, chanted in front of the entrance to the governor’s building. The banners also made it clear that they refused to leave Kralupy. “It is one of the few chemical schools in Central Bohemia; The next one is here in Prague, not far from here: Křemencárna, “one of the demonstrators told Deník – a former student at the Kralupy school Erik Klepiš, a graduate of chemistry – food analysis, who is currently studying at the Czech University of Life Sciences. He reminded that he himself is from Slaný – and commuting to the chemical industry in Prague would be more complicated for him than studying in Kralupy.
Another of the protesters, who is now attending the 2nd year of the chemist-operator field, is delivered to Deník “preferably only anonymously”. “Quite unfair,” she said of her plans to move the school from Kralupy. She said she hoped for success, even though she knew how the students of the Příbram Grammar School under Svatá Hora ended up in March, refusing to merge with another Příbram grammar school in Legionářů Street. They did not succeed, they did not prevent the merger decision with their arguments. However, the Kralupy student pointed out that the people of Příbram did not demonstrate at that time; they just acted at the meeting with their arguments. “Perhaps everything will turn out well,” she said. With the announcement that a number of students have now gathered to demonstrate in front of the building – and a speech is being prepared at the meeting. “Some parents are registered with him,” she reminded her.

The argument of the region’s representatives for the change is, among other things, the low occupancy of the school: the area for 500 pupils is now attended by 133 pupils. The buildings are in poor technical condition, with tens of investments in maintenance in the order of millions, perhaps even hundreds of millions of crowns – as a takeover, the city is interested in setting up a primary school there after the reconstruction. Councilor for Education and Training Milan Vácha (STAN) recalls mature considerations in connection with the proposal to merge schools; based on the results of the analysis addressing the long-term interest in the fields, the fullness of the years, the success rate in high school diplomas, structured educational fields and the oversized capacity of secondary schools in the Mělník region.
