The conversion of the old hospital CHR Clémenceau a Caen (Calvados) has been in the works for more than ten years. While part of the hospital activity is still in progress on the site, some departments have definitively closed to be transformed into the CHU. The buildings they occupied leave the field open to real estate development, on a playground of nearly 7 hectares, 5 minutes by bike from downtown Caen.

Laboratory of virology, maternity, hematology … Sometimes for houses. Thus, at the end of October 2021, a first asbestos removal project began. The start of a long process.
He will eventually give birth to a new neighborhood called The slopes of the Abbey, echoing the nearby Abbaye-aux-Dames. In 2026, this sector located on the northern part of Caen, quickly accessible from the ring road by avenue Clémenceau, will have between 1,200 and 1,500 inhabitants who will be installed in the 600 housing units to come. They are divided into several large sets which have been designed and are marketed by several partners: Shema, Icade, Pozzo, Flavie and Promoter of Sotrim. The site is all the more important as part of the site is based on old quarries that must be treated.
Here are the different sets:
Alix. This set of 90 apartments is the first to emerge. Work is scheduled to start in the spring.
Ladies’ residence. It offers 151 housing units and 189 parking spaces, mostly in the basement. Construction will begin in September 2022, for delivery in 2025.
Lot H. This space located to the south of the ladies’ residence does not yet have a name and the project remains to be defined.
Agathe. The marketing of this set has already started. It offers 26 apartments and 8 houses. Here too, delivery is expected in 2025.
Adelaide and Cécile. Here are three programs that have yet to begin marketing. They occupy the western part of the old hospital. Adelaide offers two apartment buildings, for a total of 26 apartments and 11 townhouses. Cécile will host 62 apartments.
Adelise. This vast project is not based solely on new constructions. The beautiful building of the former nephrology service will be completely rehabilitated, for a total of 17 housing units, with delivery announced for 2023.
