In the event of an attack on Ukraine, Russia would suffer huge losses
Russia suffers huge losses in the event of direct aggression in Ukraine, as the Ukrainian military forces than in 2014, said German Ambassador to Ukraine Anka Feldguzen.
“I can’t tell you whether Russia has such intentions. But Ukrainian troops today are much stronger than in 2014. Russia used to be a huge loss. What Russia always wants is for us, our fellow citizens, Ukrainians to talk a lot about they thought, wasted energy, time, nerves, asking themselves if something would happen, “Feldgusen said in an exclusive interview with Interfax-Ukraine.
She reminded that she was in Ukraine in 2014. “Many Ukrainians, many employees of our embassy, I remember at that time what happened, and it makes me very different from other diplomats. I may be a little calmer just because I’ve seen it. There were many opinions that Russia “We could have intensified the aggression. We had the same fears in April, but nothing happened,” Feldgusen added.
The ambassador stressed that Ukraine and its partners are already thinking about how to avoid a new Russian attack on Ukraine.
“Unlike in 2014, now it was not a surprise for us. We all – both in Ukraine and with partners – are already thinking how to avoid it, so no one wants a full-scale war. A good result would be coordination between partners, to clearly define what Russia will be, there will be war again, “she explained.
Asked about the consequences for Russia in the case, Feldgusen also noted steps in the financial sector. “You know all these possibilities, we have been talking about it for seven years. Especially in the financial sphere, there are still steps that can be taken,” she said.
Moreover, the diplomat assured that Ukraine has been in constant contact with Germany for a long time, except for the situation on the border with Russia.
