In Monaco, the calculation of the vaccination rate now refined and attributed to the IMSEE
In the fight against the spread of the coronavirus, the range of indicators available to the public authorities is essential for the establishment of an effective policy. However, in recent months in Monaco, vaccination data have become very difficult to interpret as long as the resident population is cosmopolitan, and therefore volatile.
In principle, it became very difficult to measure actual vaccination coverage. A resident who could very well have been vaccinated abroad that the information is not included in the statistics of Monaco, unless he had declared himself to the Monaco Vaccination Center to request a health pass or to carry out a follow-up serological. In short, there were holes in the racket.
Mechanically, better vaccination coverage?
The Princely Government has therefore announced an overhaul of its calculation system, now managed in its monitoring at IMSEE (Monegasque Institute for Statistics and Economic Studies), “independent body which applies international standards”.
A shift that mechanically reveals better vaccination coverage according to the executive: “The vaccination coverage of residents remains underestimated by this non-quantifiable part of residents vaccinated abroad and not declared in Monaco”. Especially since the Principality also has “vaccinated a large number of people who work in Monaco, without residing there”.
Vaccination figures only include people residing in Monaco and vaccinated in Monaco
Now the rule is simple: “the figures relating to vaccination now only include people residing in Monaco and vaccinated in Monaco”. Are considered as such people who have made an appointment in Monaco for their second dose (after a first injection abroad) and those who have declared themselves spontaneously at the Vaccination Center (after completing their vaccination schedule abroad) to get a health pass or have recourse to serological monitoring.
From now on, publications by age group of the immunization coverage rate will be released every two weeks by the government and posted on www.imsee.mc.
