Food Collection in San Marino, 12,065 kg of food donated
“I would like to thank all the volunteers who donated part of their time in the participating stores, showing gratitude towards a gesture like the Food Collection which has allowed them to feel protagonists in building a more human world”.
He stated this in a note Remo Contucci, head of the Food Collection in San Marino. The result of the collection on the Titan was 12.065 kg thanks to over 200 volunteers in 19 outlets.
The Food Collection, in its 25th year, is back in attendance. It was not taken for granted that, with the infection, 140 thousand volunteers, in compliance with the rules, would return in front of almost 11 thousand supermarkets to live and resume a simple but concrete gesture of solidarity.
“A gesture capable of uniting at a time when everything seems to want to divide us: from the resumption of the virus, to the growing contagions, to economic insecurity. The day of the Collection shows us that the facts, the gestures that educate us, our children, everyone, and can create authentic solidarity and are social ”, recalls Giovanni Bruno, Fondazione Banco Alimentare Onlus.
This year with the Colletta about 7,000 tons of food have been collected, the equivalent of 14 million meals despite the particular moment and the inconvenience due to bad weather in many places.
The amount collected, together with recovered from the Food Bank in its ordinary activity throughout the year, will be distributed in the following weeks to approximately 7,600 charitable structures that assist over 1.7 million people.
The collection continues online until 10 December on Amazon.it/bancoalimentare and on the website https://www.colletta.bancoalimentare.it.
Until Sunday 5 December 2021, the Food Collection also continues through the 2, 5 or 10 euro shopping vouchers, available in the supermarkets participating in the initiative. The donations will then be converted into alimony.
