Swiss start-up wants to «neutralize» radiation in Chernobyl
A Geneva company claims to be able to clean radioactive areas. Behind this is a tinkerer who gilds some as a genius, but is met with skepticism by scientists.
There is no shortage of ideas on how to combat radioactive radiation. In 2018, the French physicist Gérard Mourou and two other researchers received the Nobel Prize for “groundbreaking inventions in the field of laser physics”.
With this, according to typical Mourou, the time span of radioactivity can be reduced from a million years to 30 minutes. The catch: The energy required for this is so gigantic that the project was abandoned.
by 37 percent?
And now this: You ram 4849 thin pipes of different lengths made of polyethylene into the ground of a 1 hectare plot in Chernobyl. And just one year later, measurements are to show that radioactive contamination of the soil has been reduced by an average of 46 percent and radiation exposure in the air by 37 percent.
