Altice Portugal promotes a pilot project for the approval of digital manuals in the Azores – Business
Altice Portugal and the Department of Education of the Azores Regional Government signed a protocol for a pilot project that aims to promote digital literacy in the education system. The goal is to adopt mobile manuals to replace physical books. The program will focus on two classes, complete the 5th and 8th grade and no digital and multimedia training program is included.
The pilot project, which has already started in Ponta Delgada, aims for the next school year to cover all 5th and 6th grade students in the region. Altice’s role in the project is to provide the network and telecommunications infrastructure, providing state-of-the-art fiber optic equipment and connectivity. “The fight against digital illiteracy in the education system, equitable access to technological means and the pedagogical integration of technology have been strong bets by Altice Portugal within the scope of the strategy of its pillars of Investment, Social Responsibility and Proximity to the territory”, says the company in the statement.
At a time when there is talk of new measures to combat the new wave of COVID-19 in Portugal, Altice recalls the projects around Escola Remota, which in recent years has guaranteed online classes. Khan Academy is another long-term project that has asked for support from the Altice Foundation, which has an interactive content platform to support distance learning, free of charge and “quality”.
Also with regard to education, Altice Portugal says that students present their support to U-World, an institution focused on university residences, which has an active role in the field of education. The owner of MEO offered five scholarships under the partnership.
