AEDs on strike in middle and high schools this Thursday, December 2
A national movement of education assistants strike (AED) will take place on December 2 in all of France. At the call of the National coordination of collectives (CNCA) of AED, some colleges and high schools will not have a school life that day. A Toulouse, the movement will begin on Wednesday, December 1 in the evening, until Thursday, December 2. the collective Life is angry 31 even calls for gathering at 2 p.m. in front of the Rectorate. They denounce an overload of work and insufficient remuneration.
Additional missions
the movement of contestation of the AED at the beginning of last year with several strikes to alert on the situation. They want first of all a remuneration commensurate with their involvement. “Currently, an educational assistant to touch on average between 1240 and 1374 euros net per month “, explains Eléonore to The Independent Opinion, member of the Vie S’colère collective 31. And if the basic missions are among others monitoring, management of absences and late arrivals, they now represent much more. “We remind parents for unpaid bills. also constitute the classes, while that is the job of management. However, we still have so little recognition “, denounces Eléonore. This AED within a polyvalent high school in the Toulouse suburbs also recalls that with the reform of the baccalaureate and the disappearance of the courses, this task is all the more difficult. “It’s a real puzzle. We take between 48 and 72 hours just to make a level, ”she explains.
Insufficient remuneration
Still, she says these extra tasks aren’t not paid. Even chose for the night hours at the boarding school. “Between 10 p.m. and 6:30 a.m., we are paid for three hours. full-time with a night of boarding school. Pendant I’m in high school 48h. And yet, I am only paid for 35 hours “, denounces the AED.
In addition, the strikers also want benefit from the REP and REP + premium for establishments in priority education zones. Currently, they do not do not touch. And two weeks ago it was theirs refuse. “However, they are the first to come into contact with the students. And above all, they sometimes suffer physical or verbal violence”, deplores Eléonore. Even chosen for tutoring assignments. They allow individual support for students. But unlike CPEs and teachers, AEDs are not paid for these assignments.
Establishment of the profession
The AED are also calling for the tenure of their profession with permanent contracts. Today with the stopped of 6 June 2003, an AED can no longer exercise its function after six years of practice in its function if it is not in CDI. “But that does not exist in our profession. So even if we like our work, that we have made a place for ourselves in the establishment, after six years, it is the door. Otherwise, we must turn to the private sector, ”laments the education assistant. Yet, according to her, AEDs are indispensable the proper functioning of the establishment. “We saw this during the last strikes. Without us, nobody monitors the gate, the canteen. There is no longer any management of delays and absences, or monitoring of students. We are pins families and children, ”she says.
“Making the invisible visible”
Through their movement, and more precisely their action in front of the Rectorate on Thursday 2 December, Eléonore wishes to “make the invisible visible”. The goal is indeed tocall on the Ministry of National Education and negotiate with him for greater recognition. Ageneral meeting is also planned by the collective to unite the troops and discuss future actions. In particular, the strike renewal in January. A petition was triggered by an AED, Mélodie Helbecque, on November 15, on the to place of the Senate. In addition to being signed by unions or collectives, the objective is to sign senators and deputies to “obtain the support of politicians and get things done”, finally admits Eléonore.
