Apartments for 400 instead of 150 people: Hardau I credit accepted
An impressive 79.8 percent said yes: With 110,204 votes to 27,917, the city of Zurich accepted the loan of around 71 million francs for the Hardau I housing estate. The turnout was 61.4 percent.
The money is to finance the replacement building on Hardstrasse, in which around 400 people can live from 2024 – today there are around 150. In the new building, a kindergarten and the west registration office are also to be integrated.
The project was designed to be “auto-poor”: The number of parking spaces has been reduced from 249 to 31. 400 parking spaces are planned for bicycles. 43 apartments, including a third, are subsidized by the city. A monthly net rent of CHF 1,230 is expected for a non-subsidized 3-room apartment, and CHF 1,450 for a 4-room apartment.
The previous Hardau settlement was built between 1962 and 1964 and has not met today’s needs for a long time. The 80 apartments are small and have a modest standard. Construction of the new replacement building should start in the second quarter of 2022, and the new housing estate should be ready for occupancy at the end of 2024. (sda)
