World Cup in Innsbruck: Laura Nolte wins in the two-man bobsleigh
Winterberger Laura Nolte also won the second World Cup in the two-man bobsleigh in Innsbruck / Igls.
After the win in the previous week, she and pusher Deborah Levi prevailed with 0.06 seconds ahead of teammate Kim Kalicki. This time the Wiesbaden rider drove with pusher Leonie Fiebig, who was victorious with Nolte at the start. Third place went to the Canadian Christine de Bruin.
However, all eyes were on Alexandra Burghardt from Burghausen. Germany’s fastest female sprinter, who ran into the Olympic semifinals with the sprint relay in Tokyo, celebrated her World Cup debut in the sled of Olympic champion Mariama Jamanka and immediately finished fourth. The 27-year-old Burkhardt, who posted a best time of 11.01 seconds this year, had a start time of 5.62 seconds with Jamanka in the first run – exactly the same value as in the previous week of Jamanka with pusher Kira Lipperheide. In the final run, the newly formed duo put in 5.56 seconds at the start and indicated the potential for the coming weeks.
“We didn’t meet in the first run, we did better in the second run,” said Burghardt, while pilot Jamanka emphasized: “It was a step in the right direction”.
