Two car crashes in one day
timeline
In Hüttau (Pongau) there was a serious car accident on Saturday and Saturday night in which both vehicles crashed over steep slopes. First a 53-year-old was hit, followed by a 25-year-old woman hours later. These suffered minor injuries.
According to the emergency services, the driver was not drunk – in contrast to the man who strayed from a local road near his home in deep winter driving conditions. In the crash, his car rolled over several times.
Heavily drunk man
The Hüttauer freed himself from the wreck and went home. Neighbors called the police. According to investigators, the alcohol test on the driver showed 1.42 per mille. The officials could no longer remove the driver’s license from the 53-year-old because he hasn’t had one for five years. He was reported, it was said.
Injured woman taken to hospital
The second car crash in Hüttau over about 60 meters happened around noon on Saturday. “The road on Bergstrasse was extremely slippery here because of the slush,” said Hüttau fire commander Wolfgang Haidenberger to ORF. His team moved out with nine men.
The slightly injured person had freed herself from the wreck before the helpers arrived and was brought to the Schwarzach Hospital (also Pongau) by a relative – whom she had informed via mobile phone.
