RIVM reports 22,193 new corona cases
In the past seven days, RIVM registered 157,540 positive tests. On average, that amounts to 22,506 new cases per day, a new record. The total for the past seven days is 7 percent higher than the total for the week before. That is the lowest growth figure since October 6. Last Sunday, the weekly total was more than 56 percent higher than in the previous week.
The fact that the number of positive tests is leveling off does not mean that the number of infections is stabilizing and we are at the top of the wave. The test streets of the GGD are approaching their maximum capacity. They test about 100,000 people a day, and in recent weeks 20 to 25 percent of all tests have come out positive. This corresponds to the more than 20,000 positive tests that the Netherlands now has for the thirteenth day in a row. It is possible that more people have corona among their members, but that it is no longer possible to find all infections.
Deaths
RIVM registered 45 deaths of corona patients last day. For a Sunday, that’s the highest number since February 7. The fact that the deaths of these people have now been reported does not mean that they died within the past day.
In the past week, RIVM received a message that 352 people are affected by the infection. That equates to an average of about 50 deaths per day. That is the highest level since March 26, about nine months ago.
Hopital
354 new patients with a corona infection came in, according to the most recent figures from the National Coordination Center for Patients Spreading (LCPS). A total of 2624 people with Covid-19 will be in hospitals on Sunday, which is 18 more than on Saturday.
There are currently 2069 corona patients in the nursing wards, slightly less than Saturday (2091). There are now 555 patients in intensive care, 4 more than in the past 24 hours.
To reduce the pressure on hospital care as much as possible made to be moved to another. The LCPS reports that 16 patients have been sent to a hospital in another region on Saturday. Two patients were also brought to Germany that day. A helicopter has been deployed again this week for that international special.
