Rennes new runner-up, Monaco still held back
Stade Rennes continues to climb: the Breton club is the new runner-up to Paris Saint-Germain, at the end of this 15th day of Ligue 1.
Bruno Genesio’s men had to wait until the last quarter of an hour to win on the Lorient field: in three minutes, Gaëtan Laborde – opportunist after a badly rejected strike by Nardi to score his 14th goal of the season (all competitions confused), then Jérémy Doku – who signed his return with a nice curled shot from the left, unblocked the situation in a tense Breton derby.
Already qualified for the knockout stages of the Europa Conference Conference and the only scorers of the Parisian leader in Ligue 1, the Rennais remain on an impressive series of 13 games without defeats (10 wins, 3 draws) and widen the gap with their main pursuers .
Monaco does not advance
Used to playing the leading roles during the last exercise, AS Monaco, which will also see him spring in the Europa League, is experiencing a season much more the third in the league.
The Principality’s club is even preparing to end this month of November without the slightest success, still held in check at the Stade Louis-II by Strasbourg (1-1).
Two penalties were entered in this meeting: Wissam Ben Yedder in the first period for the locals, Ludovic Ajorque in the second for Racing. Dutch ASM rookie Myron Boadu missed the match point after extra time, unable to find Mats Sels’ frame at close range within six yards.
Bordeaux overthrown by Brest
Another historic club in pain, the Girondins de Bordeaux were overthrown at home by Stade Brestois (2-1), which moved away from the red zone thanks to its fourth consecutive victory.
Jérémy Le Douaron took advantage of the mistakes of the Gironde defense to offer himself a double after returning from the locker room and respond to the opening scoring of Norwegian defender Stian Gregersen.
Reims punishes Clermont
Dominated but relieved, Reims ended a series of six games without a win, by overcoming Clermont in additional time (1-0), thanks to a missile from the Ivorian side Ghislain Konan.
The fifth consecutive defeat for the Clermontois, once again beaten at the very end of the game and now play-offs.
