MELTEM GUNAY – The new head of the Contemporary Turkey Research Program Chair at the European Institute, London Faculty of Economics and Political Sciences (LSE), Prof. Dr. Leaf Gursoy. prof. Dr. Gürsoy says that he hears about the old Turkey with the works they will do.
Having graduated from Koç University’s Department of International Relations, received his PhD in foreign and politics from the University of Virginia, and previously studied Greece and Turkey comparatively, Prof. Dr. Gürsoy taught at the Department of International Relations at Istanbul Bilgi University for many years. Working as a member of the Political Studies Association (PSA) Turkey Policy Experts Group, as well as a member of the British Turkey Regional Studies Association (BATAŞ), Prof. Dr. Gürsoy is the author of numerous articles, as well as the English book “Between the Military Regime and Democracy”: Regime Consolidation in Greece and Turkey. Gürsoy, who started at Birmingham Aston University four years ago and worked as a Senior Lecturer in Politics and International Relations, is now the head of the Contemporary Turkey Research Chair, which has been ongoing for nearly 10 years.
