From Toulouse Paris, the pediatric ambulance driver for the profession
Toulouse hospital ambulance driver, Thierry Curbury links Paris by bike from the capital of Occitania to shine a light on his mistreated profession.
Small guy but physically afft. Thierry Curbury, 56, internal Toulouse ambulance driver, accomplished athlete, has decided to put his passion, cycling, at the service of his profession. Tuesday 23 November, the project to connect, from his workplace, Paris, by bike, a little less than 700km, was validated by the intersyndicale (Sud sant sociales, CGT, Force Ouvourner).
Objective of this walk, which is not healthy: to sound the alarm bell to alert the public authorities, the Minister of Solidarity and Health, on the status of hospital ambulance attendants. We demand a change of status, to integrate the health sector while we are currently in the working and technical branch, explains Thierry Curbury. Addition : We do not transport packages, but very human ones. We are called, if necessary, to carry out technical actions on patients.

In short, the 2,500 hospital ambulance attendants want to benefit from the status of caregiver and be classified in category B, like caregivers. They also demand that the designation driver be deleted: We are not ambulance drivers but paramedics, nurses, nursing aides are called by their profession, denounces a colleague.
From Toulouse, Thierry Curbury took up this challenge in seven cassettes. Friday afternoon, he arrived at Samu de Poitiers after completing the day’s stage, Angoulme-Poitiers (120km) by bike. His road book is respect the letter: Toulouse-Agen; Agen-Bordeaux; Bordeaux-Angoulme, Angoulme-Poitiers. Since yesterday, he got on his bike to join Angers. The champion cyclist sometimes benefits from an escort for a few tens of kilometers by ambulance cyclists during his departure or arrival. Like Poitiers.
The rallying point, set for November 30 in Paris, should be followed by a demonstration in the heart of the capital with 700 professionals from the sector expected. A mobilization at the initiative of the French Association of Smur ambulance and hospital workers (Afash). We are health and transport professionals. We are talking about taking care of the patient, we are waiting for the secrets, recalls Olivier Rio, vice-president of Afash. A delegation of hospital ambulance attendants, with Thierry Curbury, will be received by the Minister of Solidarity and Health, Olivier Vran, or by one of his representatives.
The ambulance driver Curbury went on strike for 7 days for this sporting feat. I cost 450 €.
