Child psychologist presents book with 50 involved in In Den Olifant | Antwerp
AntwerpThis weekend the well-known child psychologist and author Klaar Hammenecker was a guest in the Antwerp toy and children’s bookshop In Den Olifant. She gave a workshop for children and parents in the context of her latest book ’50 times dare’. Ready for a scoop, because it was the first time that space was made in the corner for a corona-safe activity, which was good for two well-filled sessions due to the great interest.
‘Dare 50 times’ is about learning to be more confident. “I have processed many children,” said Klaar Hammenecker. “With the help of 50 fun assignments, I help them to push their limits time and again and to dare to do things. Because what you dare gives a good feeling and so your self-confidence grows too.” During the workshop, Klaar told about her book and together with the children she worked out three assignments in which they feel how it is better to be more confident and to be more daring.

Sofie Abrahams was present with her son Vic (8) and daughter Lou (6). “We thought it was very good and took the book with us. We’ve learned that we dare some things, and we don’t,” said Vic.
The 11-year-old Denys Andrushko from Antwerp also liked the workshop: “I bought the book because I was very curious after the workshop. Based on those 50, I think it would be great to find out what I do or don’t dare, for example.”
“The last Saturday before Sinterklaas was a direct hit for us. It was nice and busy and safe we are happy that we could take this coronae workshop with Klaar in our book corner. Receiving authors, and certainly in such an original, creative way, is something we will be focusing on even more in the future”, says business manager Nele Vekemans of In Den Olifant.
