The result of the confrontation between Ukraine and Norway is determined by the confrontation between Serhiy Stakhovsky and Casper Ruud. Both tennis players took to the court after taking part in a doubles match, where Ukraine defeated Norway.

Stakhovsky had previously not had to appear on the court in a single match against Casper Ruud. Ilya Marchenko, Ukraine’s first racket, was scheduled to take part in the match.

Before other playing days, Stakhovsky noted that the confrontation against Norway may be for the latter as a member of the Ukrainian national team. In the first match of this meeting, he brought victory to Ukraine and, after he had the opportunity to do so for the second time.

How did Stakhovsky play against Ruud?

Ruud already had positive statistics in the Davis Cup match against Ukraine. In the opening match, the leader of the Norwegian national team defeated Vitaliy Sachko in two sets.

However, Stakhovsky was able to create the opposite Ruuda. The first set ended for this Ukrainian: Stakhovsky started with a break in the match, and although he allowed the Norwegian to equalize in the sixth game, in the end he made another break and went ahead.

In the second game Ruudu can equalize the score. The key moment of the set was the game at the expense of 1: 0 – the Norwegian made a break on Stakhovsky’s serve, and then his own, making the score 3: 0. This advantage was enough for Ruud until the end of the set – the Ukrainian could not play a break.

But the poetic third game was approaching a tie-break. Although Stakhovsky has the opportunity to make a break at the expense of 4: 3 and try to apply for the match.

The result of the third set was a tie-break. It is possible for Ruuda to win against Stakhovsky.

What does Stakhovsky’s defeat mean?

• The national team of Ukraine lost the match against Norway ahead of schedule. The score in the confrontation – 3: 1 for the Norwegians.
• Ukraine’s defeat means that next year tennis players play in the World Cup playoffs. Ukraine has never played in the largest elite division in men’s tennis.
• Ukraine has laid the first defeat on Davis since September 2019. After the defeat of Hungary (2: 3), the Ukrainians won the next two confrontations against Chinese Taipei and Israel (both – 3: 2).
