Toulouse. The art of pastry within the reach of beginners
Macaroons, cannelés, strawberries or tropézienne … for gourmets, young or old, these desserts make your mouth water. A precise aesthetic and a traditional taste, French pastries make the whole world dream. But, for lack of knowledge or adequate material, too few people devote themselves to their preparation. With Youssef Benmimou, pastry chef who opens the doors of his kitchen to beginners, it is now possible to create, take away and enjoy the dessert of your choice.
“Art of pastry” in the Capitole district of Toulouse, it is a great kitchen but also a shop. “The idea of the store is an extension of the courses offered, the most passionate about pastry making be able to find the quality equipment necessary to then train at home”, explains Youssef.
After several years of pastry studies and an additional mention at “Maison Ladurée” in Paris, Youssef decides to use his knowledge to transmit and lead master classes. “The objective is to deepen with the participants the technicality and the technology of pastry making, explains the reaction of the ingredients to a certain temperature, the usefulness of such utensil.” he indicates.
Ovens that heat up and the ambient smell of melted chocolate, for this traditional black forest course, participants are delighted. “I didn’t know anything about pastry making, I didn’t expect to be able to make this recipe!”, Confided one of them, “I didn’t see the time pass because the course was so interesting. Youssef shares his knowledge and his passion in an extremely good mood “, adds this apprentice pastry chef. After the class, Youssef expresses his satisfaction “It’s very rewarding to see how far you can take a beginner in the art of pastry.” No more excuses to start baking.
