“I fully understand the seriousness of the situation, I adhere to all anti-pandemic measures myself and I ask all citizens to do the same. However, I consider the ban on Christmas markets to be a huge nonsense, as farmers’ markets, for example, can continue to operate and we now have a lot of people in shopping centers who have the opportunity to shop here, “said Hejma.
The town of Most, which simply renamed its Christmas markets to winter farms, defined itself similarly to the ban on Friday. Farmers’ markets are still allowed, but it is not possible to consume alcohol or food there.
Minister of Health Adam Vojtěch (for YES) described Most’s procedure as circumventing the regulation.
The government resigned with the ban on Thursday. The closure of Advent markets as a measure against the spread of coronavirus ordered from Friday 18:00. The exception is the sale of trees and carp.
The resigned Minister of Industry and Trade Karel Havlíček (YES) promises higher compensation to traders.
“Operators of Christmas stalls and Advent markets will achieve higher compensation. We are already preparing their parameters with the representatives of the trade unions, we want to have a final agreement on Sunday evening, we will publish it on Monday, “Havlíček wrote on Twitter. According to him, every limited or closed establishment will receive support.
