The museumists will move the MiG-23MF fighter from Prague to Kunovice
The supersonic aircraft will head to Kunovice on the basis of a loan agreement with the state-owned company LOM Prague.
On Saturday, December 4, an unusual load will travel from Bohemia to Moravia. With the help of Universal Transport, the museum staff from the Kunovice Aviation Museum will move a MiG-23MF fighter from Prague to Kunovice. Preparations for transport have already been completed. The Aviation Museum in Kunovice has announced this on their site.
The supersonic aircraft will head to Kunovice on the basis of a loan agreement with the state-owned company LOM Prague. “It helped us a lot that it was not necessary to dismantle the aircraft into smaller units. This is due to the fact that the carrier Universal Transport Praha will provide us with such equipment within the partnership, which can be transported as a whole. Thanks to them, we didn’t have to interfere so much with the plane in the end, “ said the museum. Before loading, it will be necessary to remove the wings released by the museums from the plane.
The MiG-23 MF fuselage number 7184 will be the first aircraft in the Kunovice Museum, which belongs to the so-called third generation of fighters, and also the first with variable wing geometry.
The machine with the number 7184 was the last MiG 23 version of the MF delivered to Czechoslovakia. Together with two other planes, they arrived from the then Soviet Union on December 3, 1979. During their active career, they served at the airports in Bechyně, České Budějovice and Žatec within the 1st and 11th Fighter Air Regiments. The MF version ended its service with the Czech Air Force in 1994.
Shipping details will be published by the museum in the coming days.
