Carrefour is launching in the 11th arrondissement of Paris a new kind of autonomous mini-market, called Carrefour Flash, which makes it possible to take classes even faster.
The supermarkets become more and more automatic. This is the case of this new mini-market, which replaces a Carrefour Express under the name of Carrefour Flash. Autonomous, this first mini-market of the genre in Paris was launched at 11 avenue Parmentier, in the 11th arrondissement. The concept: 20 seconds to take lessons and pay for them, thanks to an unprecedented technology.
The place is 50m2 and has nearly 60 HD cameras and of 2000 sensors on the shelves. Software from the Californian start-up AiFi enables the store to create a virtual avatar of each new customer and to keep track of their purchases to avoid any theft. If you move a product off a shelf and slip it into your pocket or hold it in your hand, the system automatically detects it. Then just go to the Automatic cash so that the items entered are displayed. There is then only pay the bill contactless, via a terminal.
A cash register is also available if necessary and four employees are present to correct cash register errors (considered rare), advise and validate a basket with alcohol, in particular. This Carrefour Flash can accommodate nearly 20 people at the same time, who do not need to identify themselves or loyalty cards to make their purchases. It lists approximately 900 references of everyday products and must allow customers in a hurry to facilitate their lessons, with a smoother and faster experience.
