# 3. A surface area doubled compared to previous editions
With its eight hectares, the Ritouret park is two larger than the one where the Lantern Festival was held when it was organized in Gaillac. More space therefore, which should make it possible to respect social distancing on busy evenings: the gauge is indeed exactly the same as when the festival is held in the Tarn.
# 4. The art of lanterns, an ancient art
About 80 artisans from China worked to set up the various lantern paintings in the Ritouret park. Artists from Sichuan province and more precisely from the city of Zigong : there, the art of lanterns is a traditional art born between the 7th and 10th centuries.

Sichuan opera artists will perform nightly at the festival. Their particularity: they can change their face thirty times per performance. Only a majority of people in the world can practice this art.
A craft market will also be present on the site.
# 7. An eco-responsible festival
By organizing this festival, the City of Blagnac is committed to promoting travel by public transport (the tram is clearly the easiest way to reach the Ritouret park), but also to collect, sort and recycle all the waste found in the park and of course to choose upstream of easily recyclable products.
# 8. Important expected
“For the City of Gaillac, the Lantern Festival, it was not a cost, it was a recipe, explained Joseph Carles to Actu Toulouse, last January. I hope it will be the same chosen in Blagnac! “
Benefits for the town but also for the restaurants and hotels of Blagnac. The Lantern Festival app, downloadable on all smartphones, lists them all. A study carried out when the festival takes place in the Tarn, had counted 11 million euros in immediate benefits, during the festival.
# 9. Blagnac has invested 2.5 million euros
For this lantern festival, the investment is divided into three parts: one for the municipality of Blagnac, one for the Chinese and one for Patrice Gausserand’s company, former mayor of Gaillac and Chairman of Mag Conseil and agent of the Zigong Lanterns Cultural Industries Business Group, the consortium that owns the festival.
For its part, the City of Blagnac has invested 2.5 million euros. The town hall indicates that the financial balance threshold will be reached between 400,000 and 500,000 visitors.
#ten. A Blagnac for at least three years… before Toulouse?
“For the next three years, it will be Blagnac“, Announced Joseph Carles during the press conference presenting the festival last March. Before specifying: “If tomorrow, it turns out that to launch the site of the former exhibition center, the lantern festival must be in Toulouse, why not! But this is not topical. ”
