Delhi’s government sends teachers to Sweden; The Punjab government sends them on top of water tanks: Arvind Kejriwal
Delhi’s chief minister and Aam Aadmi party chief Arvind Kejriwal today slammed the Congress-led Punjab government as he spoke to protesting teachers in Mohali. CM Kejriwal said that while the AAP-led Delhi government sends teachers to foreign countries such as England and Sweden, the Punjab government sends them on top of water tanks. He made the remarks after some protesting contract teachers climbed on water tanks in Mohali and called on the state government to meet their demands.
“I have come here to ask you to come down … I promise that after we form a government here we will solve your problems as we solved the issues of teachers in Delhi. You must have heard that education has improved in Delhi. We did not do that, it is teachers who have done it. We trusted the teachers. We gave them all the facilities, we gave all the facilities to schools … There (In Delhi) we sent teachers to foreign countries for education, we sent them to England, Sweden, New Zealand but I am offended that here the Punjab government is sending its teachers to water tanks … I am like your older brother. If you consider me your brother, please come down “, said Delhi CM Kejriwal .

CM Arvind Kejriwal joined the protesting peasants in Mohali and said that his party fully supports their demands. Many contract teachers have protested in recent months outside the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) in Mohali, demanding permanent jobs.
Remarkably, two days ago, hundreds of teachers who tried to cross over to Chandigarh to Gherao Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi’s residence encountered water cannons and lathi charge on the border between Chandigarh and Mohali. Opposition parties have called on the Congress to accept the teachers’ demands.
