Anti Black Friday demonstration in Toulouse-Gramont
The ANV COP 31 collective met yesterday morning in front of Darty Gramont for an action denouncing the impact of Black Friday.
The tension went up a notch yesterday during Black Friday. The ANV COP 31 collective met in front of Darty Gramont for an action of civil disobedience. The activists denounced the overconsumption caused by the sales. Participants took to the store to capture the attention of customers.
“The hype pushes consumers to buy without having a real need. This overconsumption has harmful effects on the environment and on humans. We are fighting on three fundamental axes: the manufacture, use and obsolescence of our equipment, ”said a spokesperson.
Outside, the collective dumped a mountain of electronic equipment in front of the entrance to the sign. A black puddle discovers the oil generated by industrial sites. Very quickly, the staff tried to stop this demonstration with virulence. Lively exchanges took place with the protagonists who were filming the scene.
Facing the collective, the sign has temporarily closed the main entrance to the store. This operation takes place during an important weekend. Many customers have favored Black Friday discounts to start their Christmas shopping. This choice is understood by the organizers.
“Purchasing power is so low that the French have emphasized these operations to equip themselves. We understand this fact. We also present alternatives to extend the life of our objects such as reconditioning, repairs… ”, adds an activist. At the end of the morning, the gendarmes were present to supervise the operation and ensure a peaceful climate on the site.
