“I am very confident, I believe in Rome’s candidacy, but there will be a lot to do”. This was stated by the president of the promoting committee of Expo 2030, ambassador Giampiero Massolo, during a press point with journalists in Rome. “We have some formidable candidates. There are four of them, that of Busan in South Korea, that of Odessa in Ukraine, Riyadh in Saudi Arabia and that of Moscow” continues the ambassador, explaining that the first important appointment will be that of December 14 in Paris, together with Minister Di Maio and the mayor of Gualtieri, where the candidates will present their proposal at the Bie, will be “a first visiting card to launch the challenge”. “I am confident if I were not I would not have thrown myself into the company. I believe in this city but there will be a lot to do”.
Who is the ambassador Giampiero Massolo
“I was happy and honored when the mayor proposed me to be president of the promoting committee, it is a position that I accept with a lot of spirit of service, having other duties. But I thought that staying in the game for Rome was worth it and it was necessary , an act of responsibility towards my city and the institutions that I have served for so long. It is a free assignment “. And again: “I am convinced that a unifying project is needed by the city but also by Italy, which enhances a global city like Rome”.
The ambassador then focused on the positive economic effects that an event of this magnitude could produce for the city. “From the sale of tickets to the tax effect, from the influx to hospitality and then also a benefit that we hope for the future. A successful Expo can lead to an enhancement of real estate assets, an ability to derive assets from investments”. Massolo therefore underlines “a coincidence that allows synergies: the fil rouge between Jubilee 2025 and Expo 2030. The liveability, mobility, cleanliness of the city are exalted”
On June 24, the candidates for mayor of Rome had signed a letter of candidacy for Expo 2030, agreeing to relaunch Rome also through major events. And therefore also the 2025 Jubilee and Expo 2030. After three months, Prime Minister Draghi has made official the candidacy of Rome, which, 15 years after the Milan Expo, could host the 2030 edition of the Universal Exposition.
