This Friday, November 26, the prefect of Côte-d’Or detailed the plan to fight against the resumption of the epidemic in the department. This includes the establishment of 16 vaccination centers and the imposition of the mask in the city centers of Dijon and Beaune, from this Saturday.
You will have to go out masked again to walk in the streets of the historic centers of Beaune and Dijon (Côte-d’Or). The prefect of the department, Fabien Sudry, has indeed decided to make the wearing of a mask again compulsory in the heart of the two cities, from this Saturday, November 27. The announcement was made during a press conference organized by the prefecture on Friday, November 26.
The announcement of the Covid control system comes the day after the measures taken by the Ministry of Health as a fifth wave is looming. In Côte-d’Or, the incidence rate is 121 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, against 174 cases per 100,000 in the region as a whole and 200 cases per 100,000 nationally.
But for a month, the figures have jumped 300% in the department. “There is a dynamic of progression of the epidemic which is indisputable”, a delegate representing the State.
The choice to make the mask compulsory in the city centers of Beaune and Dijon was taken in consultation with the mayors of two municipalities, Alain Suguenot (LR) and François Rebsamen (PS).
In addition, Fabien Sudry announced theobligation to wear a mask on markets, Christmas markets, flea markets and at each gathering throughout the Côte-d’Or department.
In the wake of the announcements of Olivier Véran who indicated this Thursday, November 25 that the booster dose will be open from this Saturday to people aged 18 and over, the prefect of Côte-d’Or recalled the importance of giving access to vaccination for as many people as possible.
16 centers will then be set up in the department. 4 are already installed in Dijon: at the Toison d’Or shopping center, at the Chenôve shopping center, at the municipality’s hospital center and in the Multiplex room, on the university campus. “The center of the Multiplex is after it was considered to be closed. But with the resumption of the epidemic, we need to maintain its activity”, said Fabien Sudry.
In total, 350,000 people will be eligible for the booster dose in Côte-d’Or over the next three months. Every day, 20,000 to 22,000 people will be vaccinated in the centers of the region, including 70% in the centers located in Dijon.
The prefect of the department also described the system put in place in schools in the event that a student tests positive. He will be sent home. Schoolchildren who test negative can attend classroom lessons.
As of Thursday, November 25, 7 schools and 177 classes were closed in the Dijon academy, out of a total of 1,954 schools.
A total of 432 students and 48 staff members contracted the virus over the past 7 days.
