Germany will provide the Republic of Moldova with 34 million euros
The topic was stated in the negotiations on development cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany, which took place in virtual format in Chisinau, Berlin and Bonn on November 25, 2021.
According to a press release from the German Embassy, future cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and the Federal Republic of Germany will focus on two priority areas: “Vocational training and sustainable growth for decent technical jobs”, including vocational education and practice, vocational development and sectors . private and financial; “Responsibility for our planet – climate and energy”, including urban and municipal development.
German cooperation will focus on improving public services to the population, such as water supply and wastewater management. At the same time, by promoting local businesses and attracting new investors, more well-paid jobs and economic opportunities are to be created.
Germany says it will continue its commitment to goodwill by supporting important reform processes and the fight against corruption by providing the government with expertise in public policy. In addition to this cooperation, the German Government has already provided the Republic of Moldova with support in the amount of over 17 million euros in order to overcome the pandemic crisis.
The German side stressed that it will continue to support the Republic of Moldova in bilateral development cooperation. “Our common goal remains to improve the socio-economic conditions and lives of the people of the Republic of Moldova,” the document states.
During the discussions, both delegations emphasized the importance of common European values as a basis for successful bilateral cooperation. The Moldovan side stressed that the implementation of the Association Agreement as well as the DCFTA are priorities of the government program.
For the past 28 years, German-Moldovan development cooperation has successfully contributed to improving the lives of Moldovans. Since 1993, the total volume of bilateral technical and financial cooperation made directly available to the Republic of Moldova by the German Government amounts to 154.7 million euros.
