In front of 2258 spectators in the Bietigheimer Arena, the guests made fatal mistakes in the initial phase, which Riley Sheen and ex-polar bear professional Brendan Ranford used to early hits for the home side. The Berliners were unimpressed: Roßmy shortened with his first DEL goal, only 44 seconds later Noebels managed to equalize.
In the second third, Pföderl took care of the current leadership of the Berliners, but still did not appear sovereign. In the final section, Sheen for the Bietigheimer equalized again, and CJ Stretch answered Müller’s goal shortly before the end of regular time. The extra time remained goalless, in the penalty shootout, Eisbären goalie Leon Hungerecker parried all three attempts of the hosts on his league debut, while White scored for the Berliners.
