Chinese students started studying finance and Russian at Novgorod University
At the Institute of Digital Economy, Management and Service of NovSU, the full-time stage of the joint educational program “2 + 2” with the Yanan University of China in the direction of “Finance and Credit” has started. The program allows Chinese students to simultaneously master economic disciplines and practice the Russian language, said yesterday, November 25, at the press center of Novgorod University.
From September 1, 2021, the first 18 students from Yan’an University began distance learning at the Institute. Now 10 of them have come to Veliky Novgorod to continue their studies in full-time format. Leading professors of the Institute of Digital Economy, Management and Service of NovSU will teach Chinese students.
“In total, the participants in the program must study for four years,” says Natalya Omarova, professor of the Department of Economics at NovSU. – The first two years they studied at Yan’an University, where they mainly mastered general education subjects. Now they have two years of study at Novgorod University. In the curriculum for 2 + 2 participants, we have focused on applied financial disciplines with a solid scientific base. Also, Chinese students will actively study Russian.
Cooperation agreements between Yan’an and Novgorod universities suggest that the number of Chinese students at Novgorod State University will grow annually.
Scientists from the PRC also added to the creation of joint research teams from the staff of NovSU and Yan’an University. They will hold joint conferences and prepare research grant applications.
Yan’an University is located in Shaanxi Province. It has talented specialists in the humanities and natural sciences, engineers, administrators, teachers, medical specialists and economists. It is the first university established by the Chinese communist government under the leadership of Mao Zedong in 1941.
