With 5% of voting intention in the polls, Anne Hidalgo wants to relaunch her campaign for the presidential election in 2022.
This week, the mayor of Paris is traveling in the provinces.
After Mulhouse, Besançon, Saint-Etienne and Chambéry, Anne Hidalgo went today to the Vaucluse department. She went to meet the French to discuss employment, purchasing power and health at work.
At the end of the morning, the socialist candidate went tractor to the market of Carpentras, a city long aroused by far-right ideas.
If since 2008, the municipal elections have been won by left-wing mayors.
This town of 28,000 inhabitants has long been a stronghold of the far right. Marion Maréchal le Pen was elected deputy in 2012 in this constituency.
Some residents are against the arrival of Anne Hidalgo “She would prefer to stay at home. I don’t see her as president, ”said a passer-by.
This did not deter the socialist candidate in her campaign.
“It is a place where democracy has the right to live. The ideas of the French Republic must also be able to live on ”.
Socialist activists are rather confident for the political future of their department. “There is an electorate to be won. We see it with Avignon, which is doing very well. There is a socialist mayor who has been reappointed. We have possibilities in Vaucluse, we have to know how to get our program through ”, declares a socialist voter.
Anne Hidalgo continues her day by interacting with wine growers and farmers in Sarrians. The latter have been severely hit by the freezing of their farms.
At the end of the day, the mayor of Paris attended a public meeting at the town hall of Avignon.
