SHARE NOW celebrates 10th anniversary in Amsterdam with 100,000 users
Amsterdam, 25 November 2021 – This month celebrates SHARE NOW her tenth birthday in Amsterdam. The European integration in the field of free-floating car-sharing became the milestone in November 2011 SHARE NOW of 100,000 users who have collectively covered more than 36 million electric kilometers.
Car-sharing service strong in 10 years
In recent years, SHARE NU has developed into the most important car-sharing service in Amsterdam and an extensive range in the fleet, product, size of the fleet and work area. The Amsterdam working area was expanded in 2018 with a hub at Schiphol Airport and in 2020 with a public hub in Amstelveen. Since this year it is even possible to park a shared car at two Rotterdam hubs.
The car-sharing service is constantly working on improving and expanding the fleet. In 2016 SHARE NOW started offering car sharing for the business market and since last year it is possible to rent a shared car for several days. This year the loyalty program became SHARE NOW Rewards version.
Another important development is that the fleet has been expanded over the years with new models and additional shared cars. Today, users in Amsterdam can choose from a wider variety of electric vehicles and the brands BMW, smart and Fiat.
More electric shared cars on the way
“SHARE NOW has always had a 100% electric fleet since its inception, something we are very proud of. We have been striving for sustainable mobility for ten years and believe in sharing more and less focused, so that we can make our cities more liveable and future-proof. More electric shared cars help and with the large number and different experiments we try to offer our users as much flexibility as possible. That is why our fleet has only recently been expanded to a total of 400 electric shared cars”, says Robert Bosman, general manager of SHARE NOW Netherlands.
Popular among Amsterdammers
The arrival of DELEN NU ten years ago in Amsterdam turned out to be a good move. In total, the 100,000 users make frequent use of the shared cars and this is steadily increasing. In October, the number written increased by 52% compared to last year. In addition, the journey time in the same period by 8% and now 41 minutes.
“The figures show that Amsterdammers are more embracing the idea of sharing a car instead of driving. Shared mobility is a good solution for a densely populated city like Amsterdam. It has a positive effect on the strongly increasing pressure and parking pressure in and around the city, but also helps to reduce CO2 emissions. More and more people are helping us in our mission to make cities more livable. We are very excited about that. In order to make urban mobility as sustainable as possible, we also work closely with the municipality of Amsterdam,” says Bosman.
Close cooperation with the municipality
The Municipality of Amsterdam says: “Amsterdam congratulates SHARE NOW on its 10-year anniversary in Amsterdam. SHARE NOW was the first free-floating organization in the city and thus gave a boost to both emission-free mobility and shared transport in Amsterdam.” The municipality is working with SHARE NOW and other providers on a covenant to further increase both the supply and use of shared cars in the city.
