Possible new wolf on the way to Antwerp province
Welkom Wolf is already calling on all small livestock farmers in the border region of the province of Antwerp to be alert and to provide extra protection for their animals with electric fences by putting them in stables at night.
The wolf was first sighted in the night of 10-11 November near Nijmegen (NL), where it killed several sheep. The animal eventually moved, where it turned up on November 17 in North Brabant. In a short time there were 21 deaths to be regretted: the wolf had clearly done ‘excess killing’, giving him a chance to make a lot of prey in case he would not be able to capture for a long time again.
The confirmed days, the wolf was captured on video south of the Amer in De Biesbosch. he would roam in the west of North Brabant near the nature reserve Dintelse Gorzen. According to Wolf, there is a chance that, like a progresser, he will swim across the Scheldt-Rhine Canal to the Zeeland areas, but it would be more likely that the wolf tracks will draw the Belgian border – at the foot of ‘the wolf of Kalmthout’ in April. That wolf was once not seen again and, according to Welcome Wolf, is probably no longer alive.
Welcome Wolf small livestock farmers in the province of Antwerp to be vigilant. There has been a pack of wolves in Limburg since 2018 anyway, so an extra warning is not necessary, it sounds like.
