Ecoplanet | Avignon: a fishing area accessible to all
Yesterday morning, representatives of the Vaucluse and Gard fishing federations, the protection of the aquatic environment, the Approved Association of Fishing and Protection of Aquatic Environments in Avignon and the CNR met at the Parc des Libertés to inaugurate the new course fishing. Labeled “passion”, it now has a descent for boat and a secure shelf. But it is not only for fishing enthusiasts: a picnic table, parking and, above all, disabled access invite everyone to come and enjoy the banks of the Rhône. “It is important to highlight our Rhone heritage” explains Christian Rocci municipal councilor responsible for agriculture, Avignon. For her part, Pascale Bories, mayor of Villeneuve-lès-Avignon, wished to recall the importance of raising public awareness of protected areas and the issues they raise. Pascal Albagnac, regional director of the CNR: “Our goal is to reclaim the banks of the Rhône for the benefit of rivers and fishermen, who play an essential role in preserving and respecting biodiversity.” A territory of 24 hectares straddling two departments, Gard and Vaucluse, which everyone hopes to see both locals and tourists. According to the Departmental Federation of Vaucluse, the department has 13,000 fishing enthusiasts.
