Deliverers from all over the Netherlands recognize themselves in abuses at DHL in Twente
Dozens of DHL deliverers from all over the Netherlands recognize themselves in the abuses at the company’s Twente location. For example, deliverers from branches in Kampen, Sneek, Zwolle and Brabant inform RTV Oost that they too are not paid for packing the packages.
That is the case in Twente, at the location in Oldenzaal. Research by RTV Oost has shown that DHL does not pay young deliverers in Twente for part of their working hours, which they planned to do. It concerns young people who deliver packages with a flex contract as a side job. In a number of cases, it concerns hundreds of euros of wages per month that the young people do not receive, but for which they have worked.

“I worked for DHL for almost two years. I have experienced the same situations as described by the Twente deliverers”, Rehwin responds. “I sometimes had to wait three hours before I could go on the road and I was not paid for those hours.”
Hanna, who works at a location in Friesland, is also experiencing the same. “I sometimes work from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., but only get paid for five hours. When I ask them that packing is simply included in the hourly wage, that’s not the case.”
Ties, who works in Brabant, notices that the mistakes sometimes turn out to be positive. “I sometimes get paid more than I’m entitled to. That’s not right either. It would be nice if it was properly arranged. Sometimes I also have to wait two hours for a bus to become available. Those hours then not paid.”
DHL shipping letter to employees
Managers from different branches are also responding. In Almelo, for example, where the manager responds in a group app with all employees: ‘What a disgusting message. (…) Unfortunately, the deliverers complain too little to the works council, so DHL doesn’t do more than they have to. (…) Too bad that this nonsense is being circulated. At the Albert Heijn you don’t get half your wages yet.’
The implementing acts have been carried out and he indicates that he does not recognize himself in the situations described by the deliverers. DHL previously announced from the head office that it was shocked and that it did not recognize the situations outlined.
DHL has sent a letter to employees. In short, which is owned by RTV Oost, the company indicates that it would like to talk to deliverers who have questions and that our employees contact the confidential adviser if a step to the manager is too big.
