ALL ANTWERP. “We don’t have a house. We would be there… (Antwerp)
Every weekday our reporter and photographer pick a casual passer-by off the street for a nice conversation. Want everyone has a story. And certainly in Antwerp. Today: Melissa Vanwassenhoven (31).

“I was born at the fair and was introduced to it through my parents. I studied nursing and obtained a diploma, but after that I decided to continue in the fairground world. My husband and I have a bumper car stand. Funfair life is often passed on from generation to generation.”
“I have an eight-year-old son and he is completely free to choose whether he also enters this life. He is crazy about fairgrounds and will not get tired of it for the time being. When he’s not in the bumper cars, he’s inside building fairgrounds with his Lego.”
“My son is with the grandparents during the week. I’m glad we can solve it this way, because staying with the grandparents is more fun than going to boarding school. Fair children usually go to boarding school. He also likes to be at home with us, of course, but that is not always possible. We travel about nine months in a year with the funfair and I also run an ice rink.”
“We don’t have a big house. We live in our house on wheels at the fair. A house would be a very big investment and if you can’t be there and enjoy it anyway, it’s not worth it. We are not used to anything different.”
