15-year-old killed by police: waiting for expert opinion
timeline
After the accident in Lungau, in which a 15-year-old was rammed by a police car, run over and killed last week, the independent judiciary is still waiting for the accident report from the expert and judicial expert Gerhard Kronreif.
The young moped driver, who should have been and should have been unlit and on the move before, was quickly killed in the accident. Two police patrols are said to have followed him in the dark. And then a car of the state organs is said to have rammed him. As reported, the public prosecutor’s office is investigating the driver on suspicion of negligent homicide. Authorities announced this last week.
What exactly happened?
Decisive questions about the course of the accident are still open, according to investigators. Now the well-known Salzburg technician, court expert and expert Gerhard Kronreif is trying to determine the exact facts. After extensive work on the scene of the accident and with the current vehicles, his report is in the process of being drawn up.
According to the police, the victim’s moped was “considerably modified” and had a top speed of 106 km / h. So far it is also certain that there was no contact between the police car and the moped before the accident.
No information from the expert
The only question should now be how close the chasing police car drove after the moped. And whether the policeman behind the wheel could have prevented the accident.
At the request of the ORF, expert Kronreif said that he was not allowed, could or would not officially provide any information on the ongoing proceedings. It will probably take another three to four weeks until the report is ready. This should then also be the technical basis for further procedural steps, the public prosecutor’s office and court proceedings.
