Jochen Jung sells the Salzburg publishing house
literature
The Salzburger Verlag Jung und Jung is sold to the Swiss Kampa Verlag. The last publisher, Jochen Jung, who will be 80 years old next year, told the “Salzburger Nachrichten”. Daniel Kampa wants to expand his sphere of influence to Austria and Germany.
“You cannot continue running the publishing house in the long term, but you have to bring it to a point where it can continue to exist,” said Jochen Jung, who is also a Germanist and writer, to the “SN”. He had made a few attempts to get into conversation with representatives of large publishing houses, but they could all fail. Then things went quickly when the Swiss publisher showed interest.
The Salzburg location and employees are to be retained
Daniel Kampa was looking for a publisher in Austria, and he believed that young was capable of development. The Swiss publisher wants to give the Salzburg publishing house its own peculiarity. The Salzburg location and its employees are to be retained. Interference in the program is not intended. Kampa is open and interested in literature. He oversees the complete edition of Georges Simenon and has also taken over the Polish author Olga Tokarczuk, who received the 2018 Nobel Prize for Literature.
Jung put emphasis on Austrian literature
In 2000 Jochen Jung founded the publishing house in Salzburg. The focus is on contemporary German-language literature with a focus on Austria. Translations from other languages are also published.
