Ajax brings Sparta icon to Amsterdam: “Other clubs were also interested”
Dolf Roks (58) did not sit still for long after his break with Sparta. Ajax has brought him to Amsterdam to screen the youth academy.
Roks was put on hold by Sparta at the beginning of October, because it no longer worked with technical director Henk van Stee. He thought that the level of the youth academy should be raised. Roks was both head of youth academy and trainer of Sparta O18. He has been working for Sparta since 1986 (!) Roks has been reporting in Amsterdam since Sunday.
“I examine the upper, middle and lower classes of Ajax and the qualities of Ajax’s youth academy in order to gain knowledge for myself. I then pass on that knowledge internally and externally,” says Roks. RTV Rijnmond. “That means that I spread that knowledge at home, abroad and online.”
Roks had in mind to stay with Sparta until the end of his career, but Ajax quickly got in touch. “The collaboration that Sparta has with Ajax. Other clubs were also interested. It mainly concerns a longer club.” But when Ajax comes, it’s not that difficult
