11/23/21 The city of Salzburg awards the culture prizes. The big celebration for the presentation of the prizes – planned for November 24th – will be pandemic-related postponed.
The main focus of the international main prizes, each endowed with 12,000 euros, were the topics of digitization and media art. The Salzburg Prize, endowed with 10,000 euros, honors a personality who has decisively shaped the city of Salzburg through her work. A further 4,000 euros will be made available to the award winner for a freely chosen sponsorship. There is also a sponsorship award for art & culture, science & research as well as children and youth projects, each endowed with 6,000 euros and not tied to the main topics. These prizes should continue to support promising projects, initiatives and people on their further path. “The Kulturfond awards direct the spotlight on people and institutions from the fields of art, culture and science who particularly shape the intellectual, cultural and social coexistence in this city, ”says Dagmar Aigner, managing director of the Kulturfonds.
The international main prize for art & culture goes to the artists’ collective Gold extra
with Reinhold Bidner, Tobias Hammerle, Georg Hobmeier, Sonja Prlić and Karl Zechenter. “The artist collective” Gold extra works – starting from Salzburg and internationally widely present and awarded – at the interfaces of art, artistic research and the connection between art and socio-political issues. The focus of this innovative interconnection of art and science is on new media and new forms in the field of digital games. ”
The main international prize for science and research goes to Leonhard Menges, who “works in the philosophy department at the University of Salzburg. Menges take a position “on questions of informational privacy in view of the increasing digitization of society”. The aim of his current research projects is to develop a theory that should provide orientation for specific questions.
The Salzburg Prize goes to Caroline Richards: “As a theater maker, actress and director, Caroline Richards has worked continuously and successfully for thirty years in Salzburg and all of Austria.” With the founding of the TAKA-TUKA Theater for Young Audiences in 2009 – today Theater TATU enrich this area beyond Salzburg. Caroline Richards awards the sponsorship in equal parts to the young theater professionals Armela Madreiter and Jenny Szabo.
The sponsorship award for art & culture goes to Franziska Strohmayr: “The violinist Franziska Strohmayr, who was born in Augsburg and trained at the University of Mozarteum, is committed to promoting equal rights for women in music with her extraordinary projects. In particular, with her cultural biathlon with violin and bicycle ‘and the’ Rosary Mystery ‘in the Kollegienkirche, she puts her focus on female composers and independent musicians in Salzburg. “
The sponsorship award for science and research goes to Andreas Traweger. “As head of the Institute for Tendon and Bone Regeneration at the PMU, Andreas Traweger and his team do basic research to improve the regeneration of tendon tissue. In a pioneering work, he was able to discover a cause for the susceptibility and develop a possible new therapy. “
The sponsorship award for child / youth projects goes to the Salzburg team PAPAGENO – mobile children’s hospice: “Since 2015 Regina Jones and her interdisciplinary team from the Salzburg hospice movement have been accompanying children and young people with a life-limiting illness. The PAPAGENO children’s hospice team not only addresses the physical and psycho-emotional needs, but also the social, cultural and spiritual concerns of the young patients and their families. “
