Slovenian Defense Minister Matej Tonin and his Italian counterpart Lorenzo Guerini signed an intergovernmental agreement for the C-27J Spartan tactical transport aircraft for the Slovenian Army on November 17 in Rome, the Slovenian government announced on its website. and.
At EUR 72 million (more than USD 81 million), the agreement covers the purchase of a basic configuration C-27J aircraft with ballistic protection for EUR 48 million, plus EUR 11 million for cargo modules; transport of passengers, infected persons and lightly and severely injured persons by monitoring vital signs; next to the fire module. The remaining € 13 million is for the logistics support package, spare parts, crew training (also with simulators), technical documentation and final certification.
The purchase of a tactical transport aircraft is envisaged in the Resolution on the General Long-Term Program for the Development and Equipping of the Slovenian Armed Forces until 2025 and the Medium-Term Defense Program for the period 2018–23. The C-27J, scheduled for delivery in mid-2023, is financed from Slovenia’s defense budgets for 2021 and 2022.
