Ramsey Nasr: ‘The Netherlands threatens to become a divisive object, because the nuance is made suspicious’
From foundations to ornaments
Get rid of the pursuit of unbridled growth, give up on that efficiency thinking, and for God’s sake revolt. That was the loud cry that struck a large group of readers. The book The Foundation by Ramsey Nasr was on the bestseller list for weeks.
”In the Netherlands you notice that the extreme voice is heard the most. It is a large middle bracket of Dutch people who are not extreme but reasonable. ”A discord has arisen, there are also two camps. Trying to use the Netherlands to become a divisive object, because nuance and reasonableness are made suspect. That is dangerous.”
According to Nasr, examples of this are people in care who are mistrusted. “Virologists do their best to have as much correct information as possible, but are called Nazis.” Our foundations have become ornaments, he sees. “Vaccinated people are put away as NSB members. I think we have a big problem in the Netherlands if we don’t contradict that.”
His book has received a lot of attention. That resulted in a meeting with Mark Rutte in the tower. “What dawned on me was that he was not at all aware of the great danger that surrounds the Netherlands.”
