National Day: several Monegasque personalities planned
The medals were awarded by the Prince on November 17, in the main courtyard of the Prince’s Palace and at the Stade Louis-II.
It is an annual tradition from which Monaco never derogates: the presentation of the medals of the Order of Saint-Charles, of the Order of Grimaldi and of Education and Sports. Once again this year, Prince Albert II expressed his “ pleasure and privilege »To hand over these decorations, in a context still shaken by the health crisis.
The Order of St. Charles
Established in 1858 by Prince Charles III, the Order of Saint Charles’s most prestigious honors esteemed in. This medal rewards merit and services rendered to the State or to the Prince. The Order comprises five hierarchical classes: the “Knight”, “Officer” “Commander” ranks, which are awarded when medals are awarded, and the two “Grand Officer” and “Grand Cross” ranks. This year, the Rank of Commander was published to Régine West, President of the association “Amitié sans frontières internationales”.
Order of Grimaldi
This distinction created by Prince Rainier III was created in 1954. The Order of Grimaldi recognizes and rewards services rendered to the Prince or his Family, as well as actions which have contributed to the prestige of the Principality. The same five hierarchical classes constitute this order. The Rank of Commander was awarded to Jacqueline Lancre, Historical Research Officer of the Prince’s Palace this year.
On the occasion of this ceremony, Prince Albert II provoked the work of the Prince’s Government, the National Council and the entire population in the face of the health crisis, as well as the commitment of the health services and professions. The Sovereign also paid tribute to public service, bereaved on several occasions.
The Education and Sports Medal
Awarded since 1939, this medal rewards people who, through remarkable performances, continuous and exemplary practice, or their teaching, contribute to the development of physical education and sports in the Principality. The first class medal is in vermeil, the second class is in silver and the third class is in bronze. This year, the Vermeil medal was awarded to Patrick Lambin, Robert Parent, Gilles Porcier, Michel Sandri, Yuchi Sato and Raoul Viora.
The Sovereign congratulated the recipients: “ Each and every one, with your personality, you contribute, in one way or another, to the aura of the sports disciplines which contribute to the reputation of Monaco. With talent, you show our young athletes that they can compete with others. You are, in a way, revelators, detonators, in the sporting sense of the term. “
