IUNO in Rome. The new research center for art
Cecilia Canziani and Ilaria Gianni open IUNO in the Prati district in Rome. A new research center for the arts that wants to focus on residencies, seminars, teaching, commissions for artists and consultancy. In the name of slowness
The creative vivacity that smolders in Rome, waiting to understand what identity the new administration of Roberto Gualtieri wants to assume after weeks and weeks of running in, is confirmed with the opening of new spaces, new projects, a new desire to take risks and – above all – of something that was not there. This is the case with the platform IUNO, a new project headed by two curators, art critics and teachers based in the capital and endowed with solid authority, professional backgrounds and experience as Cecilia Canziani And Ilaria Gianni.
IUNO IN ROME. A RESEARCH CENTER FOR ART
IUNO, waiting to be fully operational in January 2022, is however already open in the spaces of an apartment in the residential and elegant Rione Prati complex and aims to do several things: seminary with a calendar of meetings especially dedicated to artists; an activity of commission for Roman artists called to works to be inaugurated with peculiar and very different convivial moments from the classic opening-from-gallery-art; an activity didactic dedicated to young people and children to be held also around the city, outside the walls of IUNO. There will also be one residence, not for artists, however, but for those who dedicate themselves and measure themselves to writing about art: critics, essayists, experimenters and creatives. And then, last but not least, the possibility of offering consultancy services to organizations, businesses and companies to exploit the experiences and know-how of this project at an economic level.
A platform, a research center, an organism still in progress devoted to “slowness” but attentive to accepting the stimuli of the city and at the same time very ready and eager to enter a dynamic network together with European spaces with the same sensitivity. We were told (almost) everything in the video interview by the two founders.
