You must have already noticed them in the streets of Toulouse. A few weeks of Christmas, several decorations have already appeared. And now, we know the official launch date of the festivities. They open on Friday November 26 at 6 p.m. at Square Charles-De-Gaulle, in the presence of the mayor of the city, Jean-Luc Moudenc.
An opening show is also planned for this purpose. It will consist of a wall dance on the Capitol dungeon, a piano-voice duet, as well as Gospel songs. Until December 26, it will welcome visitors from 10:30 a.m. every day and until 8:30 p.m. Sunday to Thursday, or 10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. In addition, this year, a solidarity chalet will be dedicated to associations.
Finally, the ice skating rink It is also making a comeback since its last appearance in 2018. On a 200m² glacier carpet, it will allow visitors to discover winter sports.
An artisanal and solidarity Christmas market
Another market will also make a comeback on Allées Jules Guesde du December 4 to 19. This is the artisanal and solidarity Christmas market. It will welcome the public from Sunday to Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and until 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. In all, around forty artisans, associations, cooperatives and businesses will be present. Visitors can discover products from France and abroad on responsible approaches. Local producers also offer something to eat on site (pancakes, exotic dishes, pastries, craft beer, etc.).

The market also wants to be engaged with a decoration entirely carried out by the Workshop of Associative and Experimental Joinery (AMAE), the graffiti artist David Bordier and the painter Stéphane Gras. In addition, young people from prevention clubs in Toulouse Métropole will present their work (bicycle lamps). Finally, the assembly of the chalets was carried out by young people registered in integration.
Many animations
Toulousains can also discover many other activities. the Santa Claus will notably be installed in the heart of the Pink City at Square Charles-De-Gaulle from November 26 to December 31. Stilt walkers, elves or ice sculpture will take the public on a “journey to the land of Santa Claus“.
Moreover, the traditional Christmas carousel in the shape of a giant illuminated tree will delight street children Alsace Lorraine from November 26 to January 9. It will welcome the public from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays and until 11 p.m. on weekends. Finally, the cultural centers also join in the festivities. The latter offer residents a Christmas in their neighborhood. Shows, events, screenings and even exhibitions will punctuate the highlights of Christmas during school holidays and weekends.
A warm and “eco-responsible” decor
In addition, this year, the decor is intended to be warm. 450 patterns red, or or white will adorn the city. The objective was also to associate and the end of year celebrations ecological responsibility. Six giant trees installed in the city center are thus made of polyethylene and 90% recyclable. The highest measures 10m and adorns the Place Saint-Etienne. The other five are five meters long and take pride of place in the places de la Trinité, Joan of Arc, Saint-Georges, Dupuy and Saint-Sernin. The giant Christmas tree in allées Jean-Jaurès has also already made a comeback. Its 20m high structure is made of 400 small eco-responsible trees, cultivated for the occasion in the Morvan.
On the Victor Hugo market place, decorations in the shape of diamonds were made with 90% biodegradable materials and recyclable. It’s about Bioprint, a material derived from sugar cane. Finally, the 16.5 km of garlands and all the light sets are 100% lit by led lights, consider them less responsible and more energy efficient.
