What there is to knowUpdated 14h02 ago

In Toulouse and in several cities of the agglomeration, the bins were not all collected on Monday.

To protest against the planned end of the “finished party” desired by Toulouse Métropole, the garbage collectors decided “to apply the regulations to the letter”.

Started Monday, this movement of anger orchestrated by the inter-union is brought to last “all week” and even “beyond”.

They are taking action. The scheduled end of “Finished-gone” to provoke the wrath of the garbage collectors. But rather than opting for a hard strike, the inter-union (FO, CGT, autonomous union, FSU, Solidaires Sud and Unsa) opted for targeted actions to make themselves heard.

Why the garbage collectors are angry

Until now, and for several decades, the garbage collectors of Toulouse Métropole Until thanks to the “Finished-gone” leave their workplace once their tour is over regardless of the time.

Relying on the Civil Service Transformation Law passed in the middle of the summer which provides for the alignment of all territorial agents to 1,607 hours per year (i.e. 35 hours per week), the Metropolis has decided to put an end to this practice from January 1, 2022. Instead of returning home once their tour is over, collection agents must stay at the depot until noon.

“Our will is to behave as a responsible employer. Or the practice of finesse encourage actions that do not go in the direction of the safety and health of our agents ”, recently indicated to Toulouse news Vincent Terrail-Novès, the vice-president of Toulouse Métropole in charge of cleanliness, who pointed out a significant number of work accidents “3.5 times higher than in the other departments of Toulouse Métropole”.

Many garbage cans not collected

Rather than opting for a strike movement, the garbage collectors have started a new mode of action. Monday, November 22, 2021, they decided to apply the future regulations to the letter.

“Since the administration refers to the regulations to put an end to the game and withdraw our gains, we decided to apply the future regulations to the letter, by facing break times and the rules of the road. Attention, on do not gland! But we simply want to show that what the Metropolis wants to see applied is impossible. And besides, it does not work, since the garbage collectors do not manage to finish their rounds! ” , Explain Olivier Fontanilles, on behalf of the intersyndicale.

Direct consequence: the rubbish bins were not all picked up on Monday, a Toulouse, Colomiers (where the grumbling movement was started last week) and to The union. And larger than usual traffic jams were observed behind the dump trucks.

“On the Raisin deposit, only two out of 18 teams managed to complete their tour on time. At Monlong depot, many teams failed to complete within the allotted time. And in terms of selective sorting, no team was able to complete their tour! », Underlines the trade unionist.

An action that will last

“The garbage collectors are not on strike. But we intend to show the Metropolis thatthey wanted to stir up a system that worked very well! And moreover, our action shows that the new system desired by the Metropolis is sclerotic of itself, since there are not enough garbage collectors to make it work properly ”, continues Olivier Fontanilles.

So don’t be surprised if your trash has not been picked up or if it is not in the coming days, even if you put it down on the sidewalk. This type of action is also brought to be repeated every day of the week, and even beyond, in order to convince the Metropolis to go back.

An open letter to Jean-Luc Moudenc was also sent by the intersyndicale, in which the trade unions notably demand “the maintenance of the finite party but also the opening of a real consultation on recognition of hardship of our businesses ”. The standoff is therefore well and truly underway.
