Eisbären Berlin have won the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) for the second time in a row. On Tuesday evening, the German champions won against the Iserlohn Roosters 4: 1 (2: 0, 2: 1, 0: 0). Giovanni Fiore contributed two goals to the success he deserved, and Frank Hördler and Frans Nielsen scored for the capital city.
In front of 5,322 spectators in the arena at Ostbahnhof, the hosts used their chances in the initial phase consistently: Fiore scored after the end of the first power play of the Berliners, Hördler immediately increased with a low shot from the blue line. Although the polar bears were not always secure on the defensive, they remained the superior team: Shortly after the first break, Nielsen’s lead, on the connection goal of the guests, which Joseph Whitney had outnumbered, Fiore repeated with his second goal.
In the final section, in view of the clear leadership, the Berliners missed the necessary consistency at times. The strong goalkeeper Mathias Niederberger makes sure with some good saves that the clear success is no longer in danger and that the capitals have won their second league game after the Germany Cup break.
